Her mother tolf our Megan Shepherd that after this second act of violence, she’s standing up now before the situation gets even worse. Sylvia Taylor and her 8-year-old daughter, Divine, moved to Grand Bahama less than two years ago. On Thursday, her mom says the second grader experienced her second incident of bullying at Holmes Rock Primary School. This incident, involved two fifth-grade boys, and left her daughter with a sprained arm, now wrapped in a cast. Taylor, who works just minutes away at Holmes Rock Junior High School, said she believed enrolling her daughter at a smaller school near her place of employment would provide convenience and a place of safety, away from violent incidents like this one. Following the incident, Divine was taken to the clinic, where she was treated for a sprain. Taylor, while grateful the injuries were fairly minor, is adamant this incident could have ended much worse. On Friday morning, she met with the school’s principal and police. Taylor admitted that school officials are assisting to bring some resolve to the matter. We asked the school’s principal for comment on the matter, but she declined.
