But with global tensions and fuel costs rising, could the tourism bubble soon burst? Our Delvardo Emmanuel recently spoke to a top Baha Mar executive about the numbers. It’s that time of year when many are hanging up their winter coats and pulling out their swimsuits and sunglasses. If you’ve been driving around Nassau lately, you’ve likely noticed it — crowded beaches, busy downtown streets, and a surge of visitors around the cruise port. That’s all part of a tourism boom this spring, and Baha Mar is feeling it too. With the country’s largest resort packed with guests and demand showing no signs of slowing down. And External Affairs, Baha Mar “ So far this year, certainly we had a strong January, we’ve had a very strong February and so forth.As a result of spring break, we are having an exceptional. March, and we are very happy about that, “ Sands said right now, the resort is just about full, with occupancy levels in the high nineties. And External Affairs, Baha Mar “ It is also part of the multifaceted approach to marketing that we have here, that we, we focus primarily in this time of the year on the leisure side and spring break as is happening in this particular month.And then as we get to latter part of the year, our groups. Conventions kick in. And then once we get to this third and fourth quarter, our sports, uh, equity, uh, kicks in. “ And how does the resort keep these hundreds of out-of-town visitors occupied? Resort hotel in this part of the world.And, and so we were top of mind and our equity in the marketplace continues to grow, “ Even as the numbers remain strong, global tensions, including conflict in the Middle East, are now introducing a new layer of uncertainty for the tourism industry. Sands said that rising fuel costs are already beginning to impact travel, but he said that there’s a silver lining. Robert Sands – Sr. VP of Govt. And geopolitically, you always have to be concerned about these particular issues, but the revolt and the concerns are far afield.
