Central GB MP: “I Wish I Could Just Say That The People Would’ve Won”

& Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement NASSAU , BAHAMAS – The Central Grand Bahama MP shared his perspective on the arbitration battle between the government and the Grand Bahama Port Authority. He said that when it comes to who won, well, he wishes the sole answer would have been that the people are the real winners. The Arbitration Tribunal dismissed a $357M dollar claim by the government. However, the Grand Bahama Port Authority still owes annual payments through 2054. The tribunal also rejected GBPA’s claim that it is Freeport’s sole regulator. While finding the government in breach over environmental delays, Central Grand Bahama Parliamentarian, Iram Lewis, acknowledged that both sides are claiming victory. Lewis says now is the time for both parties to come to the table amicably and leave the legal process behind them. As to what’s next? The COI member said constructive collaboration should be the order of the day.
