Cubans Brace for Fuel Scarcity Contingency Measures

2026-02-10 - 00:27

CUBA – Cuba’s fuel crisis is worsening, disrupting transportation, triggering power outages and forcing changes at schools, according to Reuters. In Havana, commuters struggled Friday as buses were pulled from service. The Granma National Bus Base has suspended interprovincial service in several regions. At the University of Havana, classes have shifted to a hybrid model because of fuel shortages and power deficits, Reuters reports. The shortage follows stepped-up United States efforts to block oil shipments to Cuba, which the government says are deepening the crisis.
