& Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement NASSAU , BAHAMAS – The Free National Movement mapped out their plans for the country at a packed Baha Mar convention center, where hundreds of fired-up supporters cheered the party’s 41 candidates on. There was no shortage of Free National Movement supporters at Saturday night’s campaign launch, as the sea of red-wearing members of the FNM packed the massive ballroom, leaving standing room only. The excited crowd was there to see the party kick off their 2026 election campaign. Among the crowd was former prime minister and former party leader, Hubert Ingraham. The stars of the show were the 41 candidates representing the FNM in what’s expected to be a May general election. They took the stage in groups to tackle blocks of issues ranging from healthcare, corruption, immigration, tourism, social services, crime, and affordability. When it comes to the cost of living, the FNM promised to allow Bahamians to use one of their duty exemptions for online purchases. Carmichael candidate, Arinthia Komolafe told the crowd there’s also plans for real property taxes... Arinthia Komolafe – Carmichael Candidate, FNM “The FNM will grant real property tax relief for qualifying senior citizens by raising the exemption ceiling.” When it comes to healthcare... Dr. Nicholas Fox – Fox Hill Candidate, FNM “Immediately coming to office , the we will expand the scope of the National Health insurance authority to include catastrophic care” Dr. Andre Rollins – Long Island Candidate, FNM “We will fully implement the dental professions bill and modernize dental Regulations in The Bahamas. We will guard against dental scams.” Dr. Duane Sands – Bamboo Town Candidate, FNM “Healthcare is not a campaign promise. It is a covenant between a government and the people. The Free National Movement will honor that covenant.” There were also promises about education, social services, businesses, and transparency, like providing free pre-school education, providing 100 million dollars over 5 years to support the tourism industry, entrepreneurs, as well as implement laws that promote transparency. Michaela Barnett-Ellis – Killarney Candidate, FNM “We will bring anti-corruption laws with real power, a Public Anti-Corruption Cill, a Code of Conduct for public officials, and a new comprehensive Independent Commission of Investigations Act. “ Adrian White – St. Anne’s Candidate, FNM “The FNM government will fully implement the 2017 freedom of information Act , within the first 90 days and to be completed within the first year, which will Give citizens the power to hold the government to account .” Wrapping up the night of speeches was Free National Movement leader, Michael Pintard, who slammed the Davis administration’s last four years in office. Michael Pintard – Leader, FNM “See, they want you to look at the political stunts they pull off, the big announcements they make for projects that seldom see the light of day. You know, announcements–they are very good at. Completing projects is where they run into problems. They tell you that they are running a surplus. But I’m sure if you were to look at the records, the truth is, we are not in the best financial shape that this country has ever seen.” Now that both major political parties have kicked off their campaign, this election season is expected to heat up.
