The meet, dubbed the Last Chance Meet, is the final opportunity for swimmers to make the national team before heading to Martinique during the Easter holidays. Bahamas Aquatics Federation President, Algernon Cargill, says he hopes to take another strong team to bring home the Bahamas’ 8th consecutive win, but, there have been some challenges. And despite all of that, Cargill says Team Bahamas will still be a strong contender for the overall title. We also caught up with several coaches who shared their expectations for their swimmers at the meet. The final session is currently underway and we’ll bring those highlights to you tomorrow. The team is expected to be named on Sunday afternoon. WBC Baseball A Great Britain team with 5 Bahamians in the starting lineup fell to Mexico 8-2 last night in the World Baseball Classic yesterday in Houston. Bahamians Ian Lewis and Trayce Thompson both went 2-4 with Thompson hitting a double to score, while top mariners’ prospect Harry Ford, who is not Bahamian, hit a solo home run to score Great Britain’s only other run. The other Bahamians on the team, Jazz Chisholm, BJ Murray, and Kristian Robinson went a combined 1-11 with Murray hitting a single, while Chisholm went 0-5 and Robinson went 0-3. Gary Gill Hill got the loss on the mound for Great Britain. And honestly, it would have been a lot closer if not for the fact that Johnathan Aranda, Randy Arozarena, Alec Thomas, and Nacho Alvarez Jr. all hit home runs for Mexico.
