CUBA – Two Mexican navy ships arrived in Havana on February 28th, delivering more than 11-hundred tonnes of humanitarian aid to Cuba. Cubans lined the Havana waterfront to watch the ships arrive, with many expressing gratitude for Mexico’s support. The shipment included beans, powdered milk, and other essential food items as Cuba continues to face energy shortages, widespread blackouts, and food scarcity. The vessels Arm Papaloapan and Arm Huasteco left the port of Veracruz earlier in that week, following orders from Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. The delivery follows an earlier Mexican aid shipment of 800 tonnes as Havana contends with ongoing U.S. sanctions, and a deepening economic crisis.
