The initiative is the country’s first national framework recognizing corporate leadership in sustainability and waste management. Companies can earn certification based on three key pillars volume contribution, policy implementation, and advocacy and education. Jaime Strachan, HR & Administration Manager, NPEP “Sustainability is no longer a choice. It is a responsibility. Every piece of electronic waste that ends up in our landfill represents a missed opportunity to protect our environment.” Cable Bahamas became the first company to achieve the highest certification, Full Leaf Illumination, after responsibly disposing of more than 156 thousand pounds of e-waste. Kendeno Knowles, Manager, Communications & Branding, Cable Bahamas “We recognize the importance of ensuring equipment is handled appropriately and this reinforces our commitment to sustainability in practical ways.” Environment Minister Zane Lightbourne praised the milestone calling it a strong example of corporate leadership. Officials are now encouraging more organizations to join the program and make sustainability measurable and impactful.
