NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A police officer at the center of a deadly shooting now expected to face a murder charge. Well placed sources telling Our News the officer involved in the fatal shooting of an American man could soon be formally charged. Superintendent Berneil Pinder could face up to life in prison if convicted in connection with the March 21st death of 31-year-old Cody Castillo, a linesman with Pike Electric. Castillo was shot outside Da Plantation Bar and Grill on West Bay Street on Saturday afternoon. Sources say the decision to bring charges follows a review of security footage and witness statements by investigators. Now police initially reported the incident stemmed from an altercation that began inside the establishment and continued outside. It was further alleged that Pinder fired a single shot after Castillo drove a utility truck toward him in what was described as a threatening manner. Now the matter remains under investigation and officials have not yet announced any formal charges.
