2026-03-07 - 00:24

HAITI – Residents of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti continued their daily routines Wednesday, despite the country’s ongoing security crisis. Recent Reuters video from the capital showed mostly empty streets, with some students leaving school and a small number of shopkeepers opening their businesses. Haiti has been struggling with gang violence and political instability for several years. The crisis intensified following the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse in 2021. The U.N. reports that by 2024, armed gangs were estimated to control about 80 percent of Port-Au-Prince.
