NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A judge on Friday ordered the acquittal of a marine accused of having a sexual relationship with a child. The prosecution’s case against 30-year-old Vann Miller centred on the conflicting testimony of a now 16-year-old girl, as DNA tests on semen collected from the child’s underwear were inconclusive. She initially testified that she began a sexual relationship with Miller in September 2021 at age 11 after they met on Instagram. She claimed that she had sexual relations with Miller everyday until March 9, 2023. On that evening, she alleged that Miller picked her up and they had sex in a church’s parking lot. When Miller went to drop her home, she said her mother was outside and they drove off. She said her mother followed the vehicle and police pulled them over near C I Gibson High School. The witness later withdrew her claims, saying that she never had sex with Miller and that she’d been pressured to make the allegations.
