The DOW Plunges 900 Points

2026-03-06 - 00:24

UNITED STATES – U.S. stocks fell sharply Thursday as the conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel continues to rattle global markets. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped more than 900 points, or about 1.8 percent. The S&P 500 lost 1 percent, while the Nasdaq fell about 0.9 percent. The declines come as investors react to U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran over the weekend, raising concerns about a wider regional conflict. At the same time, oil prices climbed amid fears that Iran could disrupt shipping through the Strait of Hormuz — a key route that carries about 20 percent of the world’s oil supply. U.S. crude oil prices rose above 79 dollars a barrel Thursday, marking their highest level since June.
