UNITED STATES – Major travel disruptions are spreading across the United States as senators race to end a partial Homeland Security funding shutdown that has left thousands of airport screeners working without pay. According to the Associated Press, more than three thousand TSA workers missed shifts Monday and hundreds have already quit, causing long security lines at major airports including Atlanta, Houston and New York. Lawmakers are now considering a deal to fund most of the department while temporarily blocking new money for immigration enforcement operations at the center of the political dispute. The White House says talks are continuing but President Donald Trump has warned he may still oppose any final agreement.
