UNITED STATES – A woman accused of shooting at Rihanna’s home in Los Angeles over the weekend with a semiautomatic rifle has been charged with over a dozen offenses, including attempted murder, according to prosecutors. Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, of Orlando, was arrested after allegedly fleeing the scene and booked on attempted murder. She has since been formally charged with one count of attempted murder for allegedly trying to kill Rihanna, as well as numerous other counts with enhancements, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm and shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced on Tuesday. No one was injured in the incident, according to Hochman. The shooting occurred Sunday afternoon at Rihanna’s Beverly Crest residence, which has two dwellings, he said. At the time of the shooting, the singer and her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, were in an Airstream camper on the property, while their three children, Rihanna’s mother and two staff people were in a house, according to Hochman. Ortiz is also accused of firing at a neighboring residence that had two additional individuals at home, Hochman said. “Opening fire in any populated neighborhood is extremely dangerous, puts lives at risk and will be fully prosecuted,” Hochman said in a statement. “Thankfully, no one was injured in this shooting, but this careless violence will not be tolerated in our community. Such shooters will find their next destination to be our jails and prisons.” Hochman said authorities are investigating how Ortiz allegedly got the rifle. A motive is unclear and remains under investigation, he said. “Law enforcement will be looking at any videos on social media and any additional evidence that they can uncover to both understand her motivation and why she did these particular acts,” Hochman said at a press briefing Tuesday. Law enforcement is also investigating any connections between Ortiz and Rihanna, he said. “There’s no additional evidence that she’s planning to shoot anyone else, but that is under investigation as well,” Hochman said of the suspect. Ortiz’s arraignment has been scheduled for March 25, Hochman said. Her bail has been set at $1.875 million. It was not immediately clear if she has an attorney. If convicted as charged, Ortiz faces up to life in prison, prosecutors said.
